Patient Participation Group

The Patient Participation Group, barnabas.ppg, is a group of the Practice’s patients and carers who meet regularly with the doctors, either in person or virtually using email etc.

The group’s aim is to foster cooperation and communications between the doctors and patients and help the Practice to improve and develop thus enhancing the overall health of patients.

This is important to us! It is by patients telling us what they want, or what we are not doing as well as we could, that we are able to both develop the practice and give patients the best healthcare which they want. It is to everyone’s benefit.

The group meets every couple of months, sometimes on a  Monday early evening and sometimes on a Tuesday afternoon to allow as large as possible a cross-section of patients to attend at least some meetings. Members of the group may also choose to contribute via email and a Facebook group — this allows an even wider cross-section of patients to participate.

Membership of the PPG is open to all patients of the practice and their carers and to all the Practice staff.. If you would like to join the PPG, please complete the Membership Form or complete your details below.

One of the regular tasks which the PPG undertakes is to help the Practice with the annual patient survey.  The group is also regularly consulted by the Practice on subjects like surgery opening hours, the repeat prescription service, online facilities, and how to better serve carers.  We also manage the production of the Practice’s quarterly newsletter, Barnabas Bulletin, run the book exchange in the waiting area and oversee the waiting area noticeboards, magazines and leaflet displays.  PPG members try to spend one or two half-days a month in the waiting area talking informally to patients, answering questions, and listening out for useful feedback.  Many PPG members also have valuable skills which they can offer the Practice.

The PPG is governed by its formally agreed Terms of Reference (revised February 2018).  Minutes of PPG meetings, Annual Reports, and summaries of our activities may be found elsewhere in the PPG section.

The current PPG Chairman is Keith Marshall who may be contacted on

You can also leave a message with reception.
